What is everyone finding as a difference between the Cat 625 and the Detroit 505 for fuel mileage?
I currently have a 2007 American Coach Eagle with a Cummins 500 and get about 5.5 running 70 MPH pulling about #5500
I have friends with newer coaches that had the Cummins 600 and they are getting in the mid to high 6's running same speed and towing slightly less.
Just curious what the big Cats and the Detroits are getting. I am not sure when Newell switched or if the Cat was an option. But I am looking at a 2006 with a series 60 and an 06 with the C-15.

Hi there,
I have a 08 Newell with the Cat C15 625bhp, it returns approx 5 MPG. I also have a 08 American Tradition with the 425bhp Cummins which returns 6.5, I have to say though that the extra fuel is worth every Dime!!

My c-12 cat rated at 505 hp does 7.5 pretty consistently. I usually cruise at 63 mph.

C15 with Allison 11,985.8 miles since I last reset the mpg and it has averaged 5.5 according to the SilverLeaf. My coach weighs in around 59000# and I flat tow a 5500# vehicle. Normally travel at about 65 mph.

Sounds like everything is about the same. I suspect the new DEF engines are actually getting a bit better mileage, but you pay for it on the other end. I like my current 500 Cummins a lot, but I really like the series 60 Detroits also. Personally I think they are a better engine than the C-15, but just my opinion.
