Suggestions for hose to vent exhaust out of garage - encantotom - 01-03-2015

hi all,

do you guys have any suggestions on what to use for exhaust gas venting using hose for the coach and my truck?

i have looked online and you can find ones that are like 100 bucks a foot, but that is not what i am looking for.  i am talking about running it about 35 to 40 feet.

Foil wired commercial dryer vent. I used this for car exhaust back in the 90s and it worked great.

you think it will not melt?

I doubt it would melt but technically, it is only rated for 430 degrees F per UL 2158A “Clothes Dryer Transition Duct” Standard. For a coach without a Diesel Particle Filter, at idle, that should be close to the exhaust gas temperature but but within the limits. A diesel running a DPF has significantly hotter gas, frequently exceeding 750 degrees F at the exhaust. http://www.fs.fed.us/eng/pubs/pdf/08511816.pdf

Where are you planning to run the exhaust tubing? Can you use regular exhaust pipe except for the last 4 feet or so where you connect to the vehicle?

i dont want that much steel pipe just laying around.

if i do it, i have two locations in mind. at the back of the shop by the rear man door i will have a 50a receptacle on the inside. for a second coach in the shop or the ability to use a welder ouside the rear door or....for a coach to be hooked up in the back. so i was thinking about putting a small cat or doggie door there for a power cord and this hose.

but it is about 40 foot from the exhaust of the coach.

or i could put one just right by the coach and only run about 10 feet.

not sure what i am going to do if anything

Never melted on me and I used that venting for 10 years in my small shop and had small sports cars running for long periods back in the old days when I used the foil/wire vent hose... You should consider how cheap and compact it is too. 100 feet stores up in a small box

yea, i like. only thing is the exhaust on the bus is 6" if i recall. that is only a 4" but i like the idea. cheap, easy to store,
