all material I install is tongue and groove construction and adhered with urethane adhesive. old school

ernie. even if you told me how, i am sure it would not look like that.....there is a reason people from all over the usa to you to do their floors

Tom,
I’m probably not giving away any secrets but here are my observations...
1- getting the levels right is key. The floor that lifts up may be higher on one end or the other. The slide may match the fixed part of the floor or may be higher or lower. This might vary with the slides in or out.
2- prep is really important. Ernie removed the carpet, and the linoleum under the carpet and about a billion staples.
3- damaged sub floor under the linoleum looks scary but is fairly easy to fix.
4- the most important board is the first one you put down. Ernie spent a lot of time deciding about that first board.
With all that said ... I think one of the reasons it looks this good is that he really takes enough time to make it perfect.
