I just put in this system:

I've used them in my '93 and was pleased with their stuff.

Forest, please give a little more information on the color backup system. Where did you mount it and is it easy to post a photo?

I mounted it where the rear mirror on overhead console was.. I'll post a picture this weekend. On our way to Disney world with our granddaughter.

Forest, I purchased the same RVS color backup camera system that you have. If the monitor has an RCA video connection, I will not have to run the cable provided by RVS. I am curious if you ran their cable from the back of your coach to the upper dash, and a general description of how you routed the cable. Not in a rush, just when you have time to respond.

I ran the cable in the overhead panels on the passenger side over the valence. Used a fish tape but had to unscrew the panel at the very front, then in a couple kitchen cabinets, open the switch panel over microwave, unscrew the panel over the bedroom window, then the panels in the closet. Then I ran the cable behind the tv in front and drilled a 1/2" or so hole next to where I mounted the monitor under the tv cabinet. I was able to grab 12 volts from the tv antenna power booster (not using the booster). I think the one I have uses an s-video type connector.
Did you buy the monitor with camera and multiplexer? You can email or call them and they might have the adapter you need for your old cable.

Thanks Forest, yes I purchased the complete system. I just sent them an email to see if I can adapt to an RCA connector. If not, I will follow your advise and run the cable as you did. If I can connect with an RCA for video only, I will mount the mutliplexer back in the bedroom beside the RV closet. Again, thanks and hope you had a grand time at Disney World.

Chester,
Is your old cable not compatible with the new camera or monitor?

Bob, I do not know if I can use the old cable. When the new system arrives, I will get access to the old cable and see if it is the same, but I will be surprised if it is the same. Hope springs eternal.

I discovered today that the old camera has a four wire cable going to the monitor in the front. The new Sony camera has five wires in its cable, and I am trying to find out if one of the five, such as audio, can be discarded. If I can splice in the existing wiring, installation will be much easier. When I have it all figured out, I will post.
